A post dedicated to coffee

In honor of my special day, I wanted to do a little post about one of my very favorite things: COFFEE.

To start off, here are a few photos of the lovely beverage (coffee and espresso based drinks included):

(Source: weheartit, Tyler's Tumblr, A Beautiful Mess, my own.)

Next, I wanted to list my top 5 favorite (and maybe your's as well) coffee/espresso based drinks:

1. Americano ( espresso + water, current favorite, iced or hot.)
2. Latte (espresso + milk +flavoring if you would like. Iced or hot.)
3. Dirty Chai (chai latte + shots of espresso. I only enjoy mine iced.)
4. Drip Coffee (brewed coffee, iced or hot.)
5. Cappuccino (espresso + a tiny bit of milk + lots of foam. Hot always please!)

Lastly, I wanted to encourage everyone try new coffee shops, new drinks, and new techniques of making coffee. There are handfuls of adorable coffee shops out there in the world just waiting to be discovered. Every week or so I try to go to at least one new coffee shop (there are quite a few around my college), or a shop that I haven't been to in awhile.

I always enjoy trying new drinks, although my taste in drinks have become less, and less sweet over the years so I usually stick with something that doesn't contain a lot of sugars, but exploring is always fun and is a great way to figure out what kind of coffee/espresso based drinks you like the most. And finally, don't be frightened to make your own coffee. There are dozens of ways to make drip coffee (coffee makers, french presses, AeroPresses, Chemex coffee makers) and each way offers a new experience, and generally a different taste. So don't be scared to venture out on your own and try something new. Next time your in a coffee shop, might I suggest that you ask for a french press pot of coffee (generally will serve between 2-8 cups depending on the size) and enjoy my favorite way of making (and drinking) drip coffee.

Ok, back to spending time with my family!

PS What's your favorite coffee drink? Not a coffee drinker? What kind of tea do you like (if so)? Favorite brewing method of coffee?

  1. Ah...what an amazing post haha. I think I have an unhealthy obsession with coffee. It's so delicious...

I always get white chocolate mocha from starbucks, but I defintley enjoy brewing my own cup of joe at home.

  2. I tried an iced americano before and hated it. It was so bitter. Do you sweeten your coffee? Or use creamer?

  3. I don't drink coffee, but I'm kind of glad I don't. I heard some bad things about it, so I guess I don't need another addiction anyways!

  4. aww I love the owl!!!

I do not buy coffee out that often, I usually just make it, since it is cheaper. One of my favorite things to do is add hot chocolate mix to coffee = homemade mocha(and probably healthier than creamers)

when I do buy coffee, my hands down favorite is from this local place. It is a "coffee float," coffee with your choice of their ice cream, my pick is Lavender Vanilla (yes I said lavender) I had no idea that you could eat lavender, my breath always smells amazing after this drink.

oh and as for tea, Teavana is my favorite place. Currently I have some chai mix with other various things, it is incredible. I have never tried a tea from there that I did not like. I also like most Tazo teas, the Passion Iced Tea is my favorite of those.

  5. YUM I love coffee! And better yet love people who talk about coffee! Haha! I work at a coffee shop myself and it's probably one of the best jobs I've had. Come to vegas and try Sunrise coffee! :P It's hard to try other places around here because there really AREN'T any. Vegas is full of everything corporate so we basically have Starbucks and one or two independently owned shops. Ugh.

My favorite is an iced soy nutella latte(chocolate+hazelnut, soymilk, and espresso) <3

  6. Yay, great post! I drink way too much coffee. Iced chai tea lattes are the ONLY kind of tea I can handle - does a dirty chai taste anything like that at all? (Doesn't seem like it would, but it doesn't hurt to ask.)

I honestly love hot vanilla lattes & iced caramel macchiatos. Mmm. (Today alone I had 3 coffee drinks + 1 hot chocolate. Wow.)

  9. Greattttt post Chelsea! My current fave is an americano but I've also recently fallen in love with dirty chais. Mmmm. I prefer my chai creamier rather than spicier, which do you like better?

I also LOVE me a venti iced black and white mocha with soy from Starbucks. Sugary and probably totally awful for you but somehow so satisfying.

  10. I got hooked on cafe au latte coffe with chicory when I visited New Orleans. You can get a can of the authentic stuff through the mail for Cafe Du Monde, but I JUST discovered that Trader Joes sells it...they call it New Orleans Style Coffee with Chickory (I think). It's SOOOOO good! I highly recommend!
