An interview with Robyn of Twitch Vintage

Today we have a lovely interview with Robyn of Twitch Vintage. Robyn is an amazingly sweet lady with a huge heart for vintage clothing, and a passion for making it accessible to people all over with her very successful Ebay store.

Meet Robyn:

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself.

-Oh hello there, my name is Robyn. I live in central Florida, have a BA in statistics, enjoy high fiving strangers, and suffer from mild addictions to sunscreen and DR Pepper Lipsmacker.

2. What got you interested in blogging, and how long have you been blogging for?

-I started blogging January 1st 2010. It was the only new year's resolution I have ever kept, and if you were here you would have caught me patting myself on the back. I mostly started to promote my eBay shop, and to get to know people with personal styles that I admired.

3. Can you tell us about your style?

-I will wear just about anything vintage that is my size. However, I tend to gravitate toward pretty 70s pieces and nerdy high waisted 80s looks. I am currently seeking a happy medium between the two.

4. Vintage is a huge part of your life. How did you get interested in wearing vintage, and how do you find such great pieces?

-I spent most of college as a thrift store addict. That is when I developed a love of all things vintage, and generally the goldmine that is second hand merchandise (vintage or not.) I still find 90% of my wardrobe and home wares in everyday thrift shops (salvation army, goodwill, etc).

5. What are your favorite trends for spring?

-I'm loving all the 70s prints, maxis, and sheer layers.

6. When you're not busy blogging, what can you be found doing?

-Sleeping, cleaning, drinking with friends, shopping, reading, sleeping more, and perusing the internets. I am surprisingly inactive in these recent winter months, and my poor bike looks sad and neglected in the corner of my sun room. I am hoping to play outside more now that the weather has taken a turn for the warm.

7. With regards to fashion, what do you draw inspiration from?

-Now it is mostly from other bloggers. I have never been afraid to ask girls out in public where they got their shoes, rings, blouse, etc. With blogging I don't even have to ask, and I kind of love that. Bloggers also gives me the courage to try looks and color combinations that are not common in my small town.

8. If you had to pick one outfit to wear the rest of your life, what would it look like?

-Cream colored vintage blouse, black mini skirt, ankle boots, a handful of rings (preferably silver), optional ankle socks and a draped cardigan... I'm assuming the rest of my life will have different temperatures and I would like to be prepared. And a small shoulder bag, probably in charcoal.

9. You run a very successful Ebay store, Twitch Vintage, as well as blog regularly and keep an every day life. How do you find balance between everything?

-Haha. My boyfriend will be the first to tell you there is no balance. Some weeks if he didn't force me to back away from my work, there is no way I would stop. I honestly credit him and my friends with helping me find balance. They force time off on me, and I am very grateful for that.

10. Do you have any advice for aspiring fashion bloggers? What about someone that wants to incorporate vintage into their wardrobe, but is slightly afraid to?

-I read a lot of "only blog when you are truly inspired" advice, and I have never agreed with it. Want to be a blogger? Then blog. Just keep posting. If it is really what you want to do, then suck it up and do it. I honestly treated blogging like a job for months before I found my own rhythm and style, but I am so glad that I kind of forced myself into it until I reached that place... That reads way more bossy than motivational, but I am okay with that.

As for vintage, everyone should at least try it at least once. I'm not saying you have to buy a mod mini dress, go go boots, and vintage accessories. Try mixing vintage blouses and skirts with modern pieces as an easier way to start.

Thank you so much Robyn for doing this interview with me! Please don't forget to check out Robyn's inspiring blog, and also her Ebay shop for some extra pretty, and one-of-a-kind vintage clothing.

-Chelsea
