ABC 12: Getting Ready

First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who supported (whether in person, or in spirit), and attended the Arizona Blogger Conference this past Saturday. The event exceeded my wildest expectations, and I couldn't have asked for a better evening. With that said, I'm going to be breaking up the ABC blog posts over the next few days and today I thought I would start with our setting up/getting ready time at The Saguaro.

A handful of us in the Phoenix Style Collective arrived at The Saguaro Hotel (Our very kind hosts!) around 1 p.m. to make sure we had enough time to set up, stuff our goodie bags, place everything exactly where we wanted it to be, guide our vendors, and get all dressed up. I'm very happy that we had this time to all be together. I think having this extra time before the conference definitely helped us all to be more focused, and to have a better handle on the rest of the evening.

The Saguaro was kind enough to let us into our space early. We each got to have a little bit of down time, and were able to charge up our phones and devices for our evening full of tweeting, instagramming, and facebooking.

I am absolutely in love with the bright, southwest inspired decor that The Saguaro has! I swear, we couldn't have picked a better place for the conference!

Scott was such an amazing sport through the entire event! He helped set-up, make sure everything was in place, greeted guests, gave me big hugs when I was nervous, helped with the panel, and was just overall amazing. So thank you my love for everything! I couldn't have done it without you!

Stuffing the goodie bags for our attendees was SO fun! We had the most amazing sponsors!

This awesome Madewell photo backdrop came all the way from Coachella to be with us!

Kara was reading my mind when she got us a barista for the evening. Having coffee around definitely made me feel more at ease.

Kara's husband Ryan was such a sport and a big help at the conference. Thank you Ryan for all of your help and support!

I wanted each and every piece of Madewell clothing that we had at the conference. Oh man! Pretty sure I need to pick up a birthday dress from there soon! ECK!

If you were in attendance, please tell me about your experience! If you couldn't make it, I would still love to hear your thoughts on the conference (I did my best to live tweet/instagram the evening).

An Addiction?

It's no lie, I LOVE coffee with a passion. It all started with blended drinks from Starbucks in high school, and then I moved toward drinking sweet lattes when I met Scott (when I was 18!). Nowadays I love black iced coffee with two shots of espresso in it!

What's your favorite coffee drink? What about your favorite summer drink?

Phoenix Style Collective Meetings

Ever wondered what a Phoenix Style Collective meeting looks like? Well, there usually low key, involve coffees/teas/drinks and some kind of treat or food. We like to keep our meetings casual, but we always mean business. Last nigh wet had our last meeting before the Arizona Blogger Conference to tie up a few loose ends. We are all SO excited for the event, and can't wait for Saturday. Have you purchased your yet ticket? We're almost sold out! Also, I wish all of my out of state and international friends could come! How amazing it would be to have my favorite bloggers all in one place! Maybe next year!

I Walk The Line

When I wear all black, I always feel a little like Johnny Cash. When I wear my cowboy boots, I feel even more like someone from the Southwest. It's hard to deny my Southwest roots (even though I am a first generation Arizonian), as I love all the nostalgia that comes along with cowboy boots and the old west. Have any of you sweet readers ever been to Tombstone? It's like a time warp there! Long live the Southwest!

When I was about 18 I told my mom over, and over again that I wanted a quality pair of boots (my last pair had plastic on them and I bought them at a town junk sale in Wyoming). That year for my birthday she surprised me with these Justins, and since then they've always held a special place in my heart. What's more classic than a pair of cowboy boots? Nothing if you live in the Southwest!

If you've ever wondered what it looks like when I take photos for Instagram, well this is pretty much it. Scott really likes taking this shot, and I think it's pretty charming. It's like three photos in one (after I filter it and send it to Instagram, of course).

Today I'm going to keep chugging away at those grad papers. I had a meeting with one of my professors yesterday and during the meeting she asked me that dreaded question of "what's your background like, and what do you hope to get out of this program." Ok, it's not entirely dreaded per say, however, I always get to so nervous when someone asks me that one. Anyways, I told her about having my Bachelor's in Journalism, and that I wanted to continue writing and doing public relations work in the future with my two degrees. Suddenly everything all seemed to make sense with her and she began telling me how my writing was very PR, good PR, but still PR. Bahahaha. I took it as a compliment and will be working on my academic journal writing from now on!

What are you up to today? Got your ticket for the Arizona Blogger Conference yet? It's this Saturday! XO

The Chelsea Veggie Dog

I've already proclaimed my love for the local food truck Short Leash Hot Dogs and their amazing veggie dogs, but recently while visiting them at Food Truck Friday at the Phoenix Public Market I ordered what is probably my favorite veggie dog to date.

I give you the Chelsea Veggie Dog! Its got: ketchup, thousand island dressing, relish, pinto beans, and mushrooms (placed on top of a veggie dog, covered by Naan bread). In all honesty, this veggie dog concoction is amazing, and if you're local you should definitely check out Short Leash and asked for this (it's not called the Chelsea Veggie Dog, but they definitely have all of the ingredients on hand). If you're not local, this could easily be made at home and would be the perfect lunch on a warm day (because veggie dogs mean Summer, right?).

Enjoy! XO

Sunset Alley

Last week I mentioned that Scott spotted this neat little alley way around Tempe that he just knew I would love. Well, he did it again. On Friday evening we took a nice little walk around a cute neighborhood in Tempe and dreamed of the day that we might live there. Neither of us particularly want to live in Tempe, but the neighborhood we were surrounded by was just picturesque. With the cool temperatures we were having that evening, and the shade from the trees that covered us as we strolled by, it most certainly felt like were were in a town far away from Tempe (Paonia, Colorado, to be exact).

I wore this outfit to downtown Phoenix for our 3rd Friday Art Walk. There was a neat bike art exhibit that I really wanted to check out, and it was a BEAUTIFUL evening to walk around downtown. Scott and I ran into a few friends a long the way, and ended up taking a nice long stroll through the city to find some water/vitamin water because we were both way too parched for our own good. I swear, I love Phoenix at night (especially when it's warm out). Now, if only September, October, and November can hurry up and get here. Phoenix is just beautiful in the fall (and maybe I'm just excited and ready for the nostalgia that comes along with it already).

What did you do this weekend? XO

ABC: What would you like to hear me talk about?

With the Arizona Blogger Conference quickly coming up, I've been giving a lot of thought as to whether I want to talk on our panel of experts. All of my very sweet Phoenix Style Collective members have been really encouraging about it, and really want me to be on the panel as well. The thing is, I'm a horrible public speaker. I panic, turn red, and everyone in the audience usually goes blurry ( & in a worst case scenario my hearing almost completely goes and I almost pass out).

With that said, if I was to speak on the panel, what would you like to hear me talk about? I sort of have an idea already, but I'm really interested in hearing what others would like to hear. Please feel free to comment even if you're unable to attend (and I really hope that many of you are able to!).

White On Purple

If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you probably know that I'm partial to darkly colored clothing. Greys, blacks, and denim is my comfort zone, but just for fun I thought it might be nice to change things up and wear something a little light.

A sweet classmate of mine told me that I looked very refreshed in this outfit. What a nice compliment! Maybe I should wear my bright whites and cream colors more often!

I love the sweet ruffles down the front of this blouse, and cute little buttons down the back. It's a perfect top for summer, and one that I'm already getting a lot of used to. It's supposed to hit almost 100 degrees this weekend!

This past weekend and week really has been so lovely. Attending the Sucre show on Sunday was just great, and getting to meet some of my most favorite blog/instagram friends made it that much more sweet (I'm looking at you Elsie and Maria!). Like I mentioned on Twitter, I am so thankful for the blogging world and all of the amazing people I've met because of it. I truly can't imagine my life without blogging. Geez, now I'm getting all teary eyed. Anyways, have a lovely one! XO

Sunshine Walk

Don't you love it when you come across a hidden gem of an area that you had never spotted before. While on a bus ride around campus Scott spotted this pretty alleyway that he knew I would just love. Man, he really does know the way to my heart.

Around Phoenix we really are blessed to have such different pockets of areas. Close to campus there are lots of trees and pretty old buildings. In downtown, there are amazing old buildings and an almost forgotten industrial landscape. Around Arcadia and Camelback Mountain, you really get a sense that you live in the desert (and a lovely one for that). I swear, I really love my city.

And you've caught me layering again! I just can't get enough. At least I'm pairing my layered looks with some fun sandals from Blowfish Shoes. These are my first pair of "flatforms." and I have to say, I'm loving the trend. I could always use a little height!

Rust & Sand

The transition into spring/summer always seems to be a trick one for me. The weather gets warm, school gets busy, and summer plans leave me feeling stressed. Lately I haven' been doing too well with this transition, but I'm hoping for brighter moments in the near future. Does anyone else have a hard time with the transitioning seasons (and all the emotions that come with them)? Ok, enough debbie downer for now. It's almost my birthday and the idea of turning 24 is crazy! Where has time gone?

I picked up this vintage Vera scarf will on a thrifting trip a few weeks ago. I love the colors, and how perfectly it matches my new Madewell shirt. I've never been too good about wearing headbands, but vintage scarves in my hair is definitely something I can do!

Today is for going on a nice long walk, sipping coffee, making some progress on some grad papers, blogging, taking photos, and maybe some time spent in Phoenix? The possibilities are endless! Did you have a nice weekend? Do anything fun? Scott and I went and saw Sucre last night! -Chelsea xo
